Description
A eduroam wireless network (education roaming) is a global mobility service developed for the education and research community. Through eduroam, students, researchers and staff from participating institutions gain access to the Internet on their campus's wireless network and also when they visit partner institutions in Brazil and abroad, using the same configuration on their laptop, tablet or smartphone.

FAQ
Where can I access the wireless network?
See one map of where to access which is updated as new APs are installed or units become eduroam members. You can also access the eduroam wireless network in over 70 countries. To find the nearest location with access eduroam, get the app eduroam Companion all with Android ou iOS.
I'm from Unicamp, but I'm traveling. How can I access eduroam outside of Unicamp?
If you have already configured and used eduroam at Unicamp, you do not need to do any additional configuration, just find the eduroam network and connect. If you have not configured it yet, use our configuration tutorials. IMPORTANT: always install the eduroam application from Unicamp
I'm visiting Unicamp, how do I access eduroam?
If you already use eduroam at your home institution, you don't need to do any additional configuration, just find the eduroam network and connect. If you haven't done the configuration yet, check the procedures on your university or research center's website. If your institution is not a member of eduroam, use the wireless network Unicamp-Visitor.
What wireless network cards are supported?
We recommend using cards or boards that are compatible with the IEEE 802.11n standard.
What is the speed of the “eduroam” wireless network?
The nominal speed is up to 300Mbps when associated with standard 802.11n APs. However, the effective speed is lower and depends on the number of simultaneous users, the distance from the user's equipment to the AP, among other factors.
What username and password should I use to connect to the “eduroam” wireless network?
– If you are student from Unicamp, your username is yours RA followed by the suffix @unicamp.br. For example: 123456@unicamp.br. To connect, use your DAC password.
– If you are and, use your DAC user followed by the suffix @unicamp.br. Por example: docente1@unicamp.br. To connect, use your DAC password.
– If you are employee, you must use your SiSe user followed by the suffix @unicamp.br. For example: funcionam1@unicamp.br. To connect, you must use your SiSe password.
What operating systems are supported?
Is it possible to connect to the “eduroam” wireless network using iPhone/iPad devices?
Yes. To connect, follow the iPhone/iPod Touch setup tutorial.
Is it possible to connect to the “eduroam” wireless network using Nokia N series cell phones and other cell phones with Symbian system?
Yes, starting from Symbian 5th edition, which has EAP-TTLS support. To configure it, see the tutorial made by Bruno Varella.
Is it possible to connect to the “eduroam” wireless network using devices with the Windows Mobile system?
Not at the moment, but we are studying an alternative for Windows Mobile users. It is possible to purchase specific software available at http://www.securew2.org/. However, we do not yet have any further information on the viability of this type of connection.
Is it possible to connect to the “eduroam” wireless network using devices with Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1?
Windows Phone 8 cannot be used for Unicamp user connections, as this operating system does not support the authentication protocol (EAP-TTLS/PAP) implemented at the University. The Windows Phone 8.1 version supports the EAP-TTLS/PAP method, but the cell phone must be configured using a mobile device management tool sold by Microsoft itself. Unicamp does not currently have this tool, but we are evaluating a way to meet this demand.
My operating system is not listed in the items above. Is it still possible to connect to the eduroam network?
- If your operating system supports EAP-TTLS with PAP, you will probably be able to connect to the eduroam network. To do this, you need to install the digital certificate from Globalsign and configure the following connection parameters:
- Wireless Security: WPA2 Enterprise
- Authentication: Tunneled TLS (or EAP-TTLS)
- Anonymous identity: you can leave this blank
- CA Certificate: Browse to the location where you downloaded the Globalsign certificate and select it
- Internal authentication: PAP
ATTENTION: To connect, you must use your password and your corporate username in the format:
STUDENT: RA followed by @unicamp.br. Example: 000000@unicamp.br
TEACHER: DAC user followed by @unicamp.br. Example: teacher1@unicamp.br
EMPLOYEE: SiSe user followed by @unicamp.br. Example: employee1@unicamp.br
Is it necessary to install any additional software to connect to the “eduroam” network?
Yes, you need to install secure authentication software if you are using Windows Vista or 7, or a configuration profile if you are using iPhone/iPad/iPod devices. On major Linux and Android distributions there is no need to install additional software. The “eduroam” network installers are available here.
I have configured eduroam on my Android phone, but sometimes I can't connect. What should I do?
We detected a Problem in Android versions prior to 4 that prevents connection to the eduroam network at certain times. This is possibly related to a problem with the Android “Credential Storage” functionality, which does not allow access to the ICPEdu digital certificate stored on the phone and therefore cannot establish a connection to the eduroam network. It is possible to work around this issue by rebooting the device. Android versions 4 or higher do NOT have the mentioned issue.
I have a problem with my setup. Who can help me?
If you are using Windows Vista, 7, 8 or 10, please contact DETIC's Customer Service Center (CAC) by email (sauccuec@unicamp.br), telephone (3521-2222) or in person (DETIC – R. Saturnino de Brito 45). If you are trying to connect via another operating system, we will not be able to help you at this time beyond what has already been explained in these guidance pages. If you have any special connection tips for an unsupported OS and would like to share them with the rest of the university community, please send them to us so that we can evaluate them and include them in this FAQ.
Can I configure my OS without using the digital certificate information provided?
We strongly recommend installing and using the digital certificate provided. The digital certificate provides a higher level of security for the transfer of your password and data, as it guarantees that your computer is connecting and providing an access password to the Unicamp network and not to a third-party network.
Is wireless available to visitors at the University?
Yes! The Unicamp-Visitor Wi-Fi network is a service available to those who do not have a connection with Unicamp and wish to use a wireless network at the University.
Access to the Unicamp-Visitante wireless network is free and available at any point in the University where this network is advertised.
For more information click here!
What is the speed of the “Unicamp-Visitante” wireless network?
Speed is limited to 5 Mbps per user and depends on the number of simultaneous users, the distance from the user's equipment to the AP, among other factors.
